Fem Assembly is a feminist arts collective in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Christina Krentz (Founder) & Lex Hilderman manage the group together and their vision for Fem is to create opportunities for artists, develop publications, exhibitions, and host activist fuelled art pop ups. We are focused on political activism and feminist discourse, holding space for unique collaborations to build community, explore intersectional gender experiences using art. It is a fluid group with members attending and participating in Fem per project basis. We strive to amplify and provide women, trans women, and queer people a safe space for growth, and community.
Our topics that we explore through our projects include: gender, sexuality, immigration, environmentalism, language, disability, oppression and inequalities, among others. The members participating in the collective come from diverse cultural backgrounds and communities, including POC, differently abled, immigrants, and LGBTQ2S+. Each of us bring our own perspectives on these matters and render them through a range of projects.
